Hi
I always seem to get noise recorded or overloaded at start of a microphone record. I can’t see to get a clean recording. Am I doing something wrong?
thanks for any pointers
Hey navs, thanks for the post. This is weird. I currently have two devices and while I hear no issues on my daily driver, I do hear an issue with the other. On the one with an issue, I hear a kind of click at the start of the recording, followed by a dropout before the recording stabilizes. To help me troubleshoot and see if there’s a common issue we can address, would you mind making a short recording – a long sustained note (maybe a sine wave or something similar) starting before the recording starts, so I don’t mistake any recording flaws for the attack portion of the sound. If you don’t mind, please send it to my email (the one that had the order confirmation, etc.), or upload it somewhere and post the link here. I’d really like to get to the bottom of this issue.
I received your file and I’m comparing it against my own. I hope to post a solution soon.
I have a fix ready for this and it will be in the next firmware update coming very soon.
A little more info on the issue. It looks like my supplier sells more than one component as an inmp441 i2s microphone which accounts for the difference in performance between my two units. Some appear to be clones of the original and require a sightly different startup sequence from the original chip. The updated firmware adds a short delay before the recording count-in starts to allow the i2s connection to stabilize.
