I’ve completed the build on a TB-2 but have not been able to get response from the buttons. I am a novice in both the physical build as well as the software side of things I am a little unsure of where to begin in order to troubleshoot.
Any advice would be appreciated!July 17, 2015 at 5:12 pm #3395
Hey there, can you tell me what you see? Can you see the splash screen on the LCD when you turn the TB2 on? Does the display change when you move the pots? What happens when you see the rotating arrow and you press enter? I’m trying to figure out if it’s possible that the keys are working, but you’re not hearing anything.July 18, 2015 at 4:48 am #3401
Hello! Yes, I get the splash screen and response from the pots. Looking at the instructions if hitting enter on the main patch screen I should see a prompt to select a folder but I do not get this result when hitting the enter button. Thanks!July 20, 2015 at 12:38 am #3405
Sorry for the delayed response!
It’s super weird if none of the buttons work, since they’re all connected to different pins on the Arduino DUE – let’s start with the enter button then. In the picture below, you can see the header pin that the enter button is connected to highlighted in yellow. Reheat the solder connection circled in red an see if that restores control of the enter button.
Actually, you can reheat and reflow the solder on all of the header pins on that double-row header – the ones above it are for the other buttons.
Let me know how it goes.

Thank you! Reheating has now given me functionality of the power button. However, when I scroll pot 4 it just takes me thru synth parameter settings (Osc/Oct/Lvl, etc). I cant seem to locate the patches that are on my sd card.
Thanks for your patience and helpful responses!July 24, 2015 at 11:54 pm #3410
By power button, do you mean enter button (S15 on the image above)? If the enter button is working, you should be able to do the following:
1) power up the TB2 (it should show the TB2 splash page with the firmware version number)
2) press enter twice
It should take you to a page that says Syn:Root / Set Folder [P4]
You should then be able to scroll through the folders on your SD card with pot 4.July 25, 2015 at 1:38 am #3411
The ENTER button does seem to be working since i reheated the joints but I can’t locate any folders. I know the sd card works because I loaded the patches on there. Could there be a problem with the joints on the card reader? Thanks!July 27, 2015 at 9:28 am #3413
Yes, there could be. I suggest using solder wick to mop up the current solder and to try again. Those pins are quite fine, so maybe have a look for bridges with a magnifying glass. Generally though I find it’s not too hard to solder with a chisel-tip on your soldering iron.
